Block #2 "Wings" and Block #3 "Lots Of Love"

So as you know I am working on the
Splendid Sampler Quilt through the Facebook Group
which you can find Here....
You will find all the information you need
to get started and while we are on Block #3
it is not too late to Join the fun

Today I am going to share with you what I am doing

I must be crazy as I am going to tackle 2 quilts...
One will be done exactly how the designer
has laid out the pattern and the other one
will be a variation on the block...

 Block #2 Wings
you can find the pattern Here

I have never really worked with small pieces
before so this has been a bit of a challenge for me
But I am loving it...it is really pushing me out
of my comfort zone....the blocks are a little
wonky but I am sure that I will get better
managing my little pieces...with all the tips
that are going around ...

my advice is to starch the heck out of
your fabric before you cut anything

here is the block that I followed the pattern to the letter
I am using Riley Blake Fabrics
called " Country Girls"
With a Background fabric with Dark Blue
spots on white

And the Second Quilt I am doing a variation
on the block....
and each block will be made from
my scrap-box not more fabric will be cut
maybe just a little for sashing and borders
latter in the quilt

and both these quilts will go to my Daughter
and her Daughter (My Grand-baby)
they will be just a little different from each
other....

here is the block again I really should have starched
the heck out this fabric before I cut it...
Lesson Learnt though :) :)
I am still not sure if I will add the
butterflies feelers yet or not
I will decide this latter

Now Moving onto Block #3
By
Melissa Corry of Happy Quilting

I love this block while it had small pieces
I found it a lot easier now that I used
My best press before I cut any Fabric
It is still a little wonky but a darn site
better than my effort for Block #2

again the first block was done to the pattern
you can find the pattern Here

here is my Block
using the Riley Blake Fabric "Country Girls"
I am very Please with how it has turned out

and now to the Scrap-box Block....
as you can see I have still used the hearts
but this block I appliqued them
Just using a simple blanket stitch
with white cotton....I would also like to point out that
I have used a light weight stabilizer on the back
so the stitching is easier....I think this is just
too cute :) :)
So I just cute a 6.5inch block in white and
then used my Accuquilt heart die for the hearts
it has 3 different sizes on the die...I used the
smallest and the medium size heart

I can not wait to see Block #4 that will
be released this Thursday (Friday Morning Australian time)

I will keep you posted of my progress

Block #1 "Hearts Aflutter"

A Facebook Friend Lexie  added me to The Splendid Sampler Group on
Facebook .... with over 12,000 members this is a massive Quilt-a-long

This is year Long FREE Mystery Quilt along consisting of 100 blocks
 being run by

with Block #1 being released on the 14th of Feb...
with 2 blocks being released each week on
Sunday and Thursday
(Or Monday and Friday for Australian Quilters)

I am looking forward to the challenge of doing these blocks
and I hoping that it will push me out of my comfort
zone...its soo comfy here in my zone...

I have never done a online quilt along before so this will
be interesting :) :) and just to challenge myself that little
more I am doing 2 of each block.
one will be nothing but what is in my Scrap Box.
As Quilters the Scrap Box is ever growing.
so I thought this will be a great way to use up those leftovers.

The other block I will be  using Riley Blake Fabric Called "country girls"
this is the colours of the Fat quarter pack that i had in my stash

Here is a picture of the Block #1 that I used the Riley Blake Fabrics in
I am absolutely in Love with this Fabric line

that i have done out of my scrap
