Full of Flowers Quilt #53

I ran a Class a couple weeks ago
introducing some of the ladies to the
Five Minute Block

the pattern we use was
Basket of Love in the
5 Minute Block Book by
            Suzanne             McNeill

So today I am showing you what Sandra B of
Kingaroy... ended up doing for her class

In class we concentrated on doing the 5 minute blocks
and then Sandra wanted to make hers into a quilt for
her mum...who is in a Nursing home here in town

So Sandra used her basket of flowers for the center of her quilt and the added a small border and went on to make some 9 patch blocks and complimented them with a applique heart and alternated them in the end she had 2 borders made up this way and to finish she used a 5 minute Block border :)

then it was over to me for quilting
Sandra wanted to just have stipple on the
quilt all over
we used a variegated thread and
purple backing...yes I did go over the
applique hearts at the request of Sandra as it is
going to the nursing home where  her mum
is living ") for Birthday in August

What a lovely gift a little piece of home
and love to keep her warm on those
cold nights ")

It is amazing what you do
with a simple idea and such a
gorgeous quilt can come from it

Well I am off to do another quilt ")

Butterflies everywhere Quilt #52

Well today I am doing a revamp of a quilt that i did
last year...I have this one for sale for some
time...
I love the brightness of this quilt

Last month I had a customer
ring me with a request for a
Handmade Custom Quilt
in Blue

but I just could not get it done in the time frame that they
wanted the quilt...
so I sent her to a few places that I know that had
ready made quilts

but Michelle couldn't find anything
she like...now Michelle had
previously purchased a Minnie Mouse Quilt from
for her daughter so she was familiar
with my abilities ...

market day rolled around and here they
were Michelle and her Husband
Looking at my Butterfly quilt

they were in love with it ...
even though it was orange

after some discussion we cam to the
agreement that I would take off the Orange
binding and make up some labels
with family names and what the quilt
was for ..

we arrange to have a meeting on the Monday and
hash out the rest of  the planes and get
names and spelling right

after out meeting I started
to take the binding off and replace
it with a blue one instead

out came the embroidery machine and
labels went one

the quilt was quilted with a all over
designs of Butterflies
using a variegated cotton in the same colours of the
quilt
as you can see it has tuned out just lovely

Michelle took delivery of her quilt last week
and was thrilled to bits with the end result

and I was soo happy to be able to help them out with
this special gift for their parents 50th Wedding Anniversary

and as for me I am off to do another quilt for Sandra this time

Aussie Aussie Aussie Oi Oi Oi Quilt #51

it has been a busy couple weeks here at
Darvanalee Deisgns

lots of quilting been going on
as a result i am a little behind with my
Blogging "/

So today I am sharing a Quilt/Wall Hanging
that was made by Debby.S of Nanango

I have done a great deal of Quilts for Debby over the years
that I have know her...

You can read about how I met Debby here

So as the title suggest
this is all about Australia
well Debby's take on the flag

I think this is the most amazing use of
scarps that I have seen in a while

this has been made for her Son-In-Law
and will hang with pride of
place in his Shed
OOPPs sorry Shed his  ManCave
as all sheds are now known as :) lol

today I have just done a stipple all over
going around the applique
with a navy blue thread
on both top and back of the quilt

As  I said an amazing use of
left over fabrics from previous projects
awesome job Debby ") love it

Gotta Love a Red and White Quilt #50

We have done it we have reach quilt # 50
in under 6 months....

wow what a 6 months it has been
I haven't been quilting as much in the
last couple weeks just one here and there
due to being the end of the financial year
I have been very busy getting all the
stock ready for stock take
and paper work for previous months
But enough about that lets get onto
Lisa's Red and white Quilt...

this is the 3rd quilt that i have done for Lisa' in the last couple months
you might remember here Blue Quilts
that she had done for her Boys
you can find them here
Lisa made this quilt with her friend in mind
but after she got it home and
was putting the binding on it
she decided that she was going to
keep it for herself...so now she
is onto another quilt for her
friend that arrives in 5 weeks :)

I love this type of quilt
such a simple pattern
but looks soo effective and the
choice of colours has really set this off

we used a variegated thread with an all over
quilting pattern called "Wave on Wave"

Lisa's also wanted to have a black and white backing
with the same cotton as on the top
so now she has 2 quilts for the price of one :)

here you can see the finished Quilt

First Timer Quilt # 49

Today I am working on Shona's first ever quilt
and it is very exciting this quilt is for her
Daughters up coming
Birthday

earlier in the year Shone
purchased a sewing machine off
me at the Nanango Markets

Shona then came to classed to get to know
her new machine a little better
after her class she purchased some
10" stackers and inkjet cotton for
printing your photos on

then last week she came in to see me
about getting her quilt finished

we used a pastel variegated thread
and Shona asked for me to
just stipple this quilt all over going
around the pictures

you can see from the pictures that
she has done a wonderful
job and this is going to be a quilt
that is loved for many years to come

A job well done by Shona ")

now onto Lisa's quilt
