Mystery Club Quilt #33
As some of you may know we have a
Thursday night Mystery Quilt
Club night...
we first started this quilt club at the beginning of the year
reason being that all the members are part of a group
on Facebook Called "Just Us Quilters" or JUQ for short
they were running a Mystery Quilt for the members of the group
and as we were all thinking about doing it
I thought why do it at home by ourselves
when we could make a night of it and do it
together...
well that is what we did
Lynne, Lynda, Gail, Kylie and Myself
cutting and piecing for the better part of 4 months
we have only been doing this quilt on a Thursday night
Gail and Lynne have both finish their quilts and the rest of us
are still a Work in Progress as we have missed a few nights
but we are getting there so over the next few weeks
I am sure that you will enjoy seeing our creations
JUQ is running another Mystery Quilt and looks like we are doing that one too
although it won't be much of a mystery if we don't get cracking LOL
the quilt that is pictured here is Lynne's
Quilt she had the get hers done asap as
she was going away on a cruise for
a couple weeks lucky Chica she is
well now she is back and i have given her quilt
back and she loved it...and I must say it has turned out just
gorgeous...
I can't wait till all 5 are finish
so we can show you what they look like and how different they all
are even though the same pattern was used :) :)
we have been having so much fun doing this quilt
and keeping each other company in the process
I love my Thursday nights with the girls
and it gives me a chance to do something for
myself :)

Quilt #31 and #32 A Little Help form Friends QCWA and I
A couple weeks ago now
a Local Family lost everything in a house
fire...
A dear Customer of mine brought this
to attention one day when she popped in to say hi
and show me a quilt that I had custom quilted for her
a few months back...she wanted to show me
at her sons place...it looked lovely..
while we were talking she told me of a Local family
that had lost everything in a house fire...
she was organizing to get school supplies for the
kids in the family...I toddled off and cam back with
2 quilts that I already had previously done...but they were for
the girls of the house
so I went looking in my stash to see what i had
I came back out with a couple of panels
very suited to the boys....one was a "Cars"
and the other was a Spiderman...
weeks and I will have them done for the Boys
well I have finally have them finished
with the help of my 15yr old daughter who
helped assemble the quilts
and the QCWA is going to put the bindings
on for me as they know it is a busy time of year
but the boys of this family will now have their own little quilts
to stay warm under this winter...
Some might ask why...my answer is simple
I would hope that if I was in the same position that someone
would help out like this too...

Quilt #30....Wonky Star
It has been a very busy couple weeksit has been Quilting Quilting and more Quilting today's quilt that we are showing is from a lovely Lady that I had the pleasure of meeting a couple weeks ago all the way from Chinchilla Qld she first found me through Facebook through a lady that goes by the name of CraftyNess who just happened to tag Jan because i was stocking pre-cut fabrics and Missouri Star Quilt Co products :) we hit it off instantly having a chat about my quilting service as well, after a chat on the phone and Facebook she got to working on her Wonky Start Quilt by Missouri Star Quilt Co
this pattern is also featured in their Bi-Monthly Magazine Issue 1
for Australian residence you can purchase it here
Issue 1 Found here :)

she came to see me about 2 weeks later to drop her quilt in and while she was here she was telling me all about her
charity work that she dose for
Sunshine Linus Inc.if you would like to see what they do just click the link above and it will take you to there page :)they really do a great job :) well done ladies well done :) here is what Jan had to say about her time with Linus and what she is getting up
this year with her quilting ")
" Ive been doing a box a month for two years now, sometimes they are completed quilt tops or just a large collection of blocks that the ladies assemble. When it becomes cooler I knit or crochet baby blankets or larger ones for the nursing homes. Its really nice to do charity work for two reasons, I can try new patterns or blocks as well as helping others, I see it as a big win all round. My goal this year was to make some quilts for my house and a few for friends, my wonky star was the first cab of the rank. Linus ladies do an incredible job and spread the love to so many. My little Facebook page Ucompleteme is a nice way to show friends and others that you can pretty much create a quilt top out of scraps, or what ever fabric you have buried in your stash. Sometimes I think we need to step back and use what we have, its very easy to look at glossy blogs using new lines of fabric and subtly encouraging us to race out and stock up. The one lesson doing charity sewing has taught me is how many ladies have left behind incredible stash's of fabric that they never got to use I truly believe we need to re-look at how we use our fabric and why keep those two meters of that super special fabric tucked away? your not getting enjoyment from it nor is anyone else."
and don't forget to let her know how you found her
or better still why not contact Linus and see if you
could maybe help in some way I am sure they will appreciate
any help they can get :)
So now lets take a look at the what i hope is a first of many that I get to
do for Jan and her family :)
as stated above this is the first quilt that Jan has done
for herself
Love the colour choice of aqua blue and the soft colours
of the stars...and that red border is divine really striking :)
we used a light blue thread to blend with the quilt
and an all over pattern that is new to my collection
I just love the way to quilted out...
we used a white backing with butterflies
below is the finished quilt :) :)
and for me I better get cracking on the next quilt
so again pop over and see Jan on Facebook at her page

Quilt #29 A little Custom Quilting ")
I got very excited today
i got to do something a little different
Custom Quilting YaY
Meg of Nanango Qld
contacted me a few weeks ago
to see if I could do this little number for
her before the NanArt show inNanango
as it is show time here I try to accommodate where i can
as I know these shows and festivals are extremely
important to these small farming/Country communities
not only do we get to see some amazing works of art
but some gorgeous Quilts to boot
This is Megs Quilt that she has
done for the show...Meg tells me that she has
done several of these quilts for
friends and family...but this one is for herself
I assume as it has the letter
"M" on one o her Blocks >>>>>
as she normally dose it herself
so she came over and we went through some tooing and froing
to try and work out what she wanted to achieve
so the end result was to just use some fillers and in-ditch
the bigger blocks...and do some stipple in the larger flower blocks
using a variegated thread..by the way Meg that was a nice touch I would have gone with white
...but the variegated is just divine :)
I have also shown here the back of the quilt
so you can get an Idea of what we done
as sometimes you can not see the
quilting from the front view :)
although I don't think that my pictures do this quilt
any justice at all...I think it might be time to get
a proper camera and do a photography coarse
lol...but I am sure that you get the general idea of
what we have done :) :)
I love this quilt and I wish Meg the Best of Luck in the Competition
at NanArt
if you would like to enter or visit here are the details
click the link :)
here is Meg's finished quilt
just beautiful :)

Quilt #27...WoW 2014 is Flying by in the Blink of a Quilt
I can't Believe that I am up to quilt #27 for the year
already...
time is flying by so fast and the classes are
humming along to
we have seen a few New customers this year
that are new to the patchwork and Quilting world
I might add they are loving it..
today's Quilt is from a
lady that I met at my old work a few
years ago her name is Lisa A. of Kingaroy Qld
about her quilt that she is making for one of her boys
again this one is simple quilt designs
but the size is what makes you go WoW
the blues are calming and we added clouds as the quilting
design...using a variegated blue thread on the top
the backing is a quilt in itself
as Lisa tells me her boys are aviation mad
so this backing has worked out very nice :)
here you can see the enormity of the quilt
I see one happy boy under this quilt for many years to come ")

Quilt #26 Simple Black and White
I love Simple...I mean who doesn't
love the simple life...to get away
from the hustle and bustle....tuning that
laptop or phone off even if only for 24 hrs
well that is the spirit of the quilt I am working on
today...just a lovely Simple black and white quilt
this one belongs to Kerryn of Nanango Qld
we have gone with a black cotton top and bottom
and a all over quilting pattern
after kerryn receives her quilt back she
will applique her quilt with
little birds that are similar in shape
to the ones in the quilting pattern Like I said Simple
just the way I like things :)

Quilt #25 Busy Busy Busy
Now i know I was supposed to be posting about a
King size Cross hatched quilt...
well one thing has led to another and i am
still working on it...
So I have been working on a few different
quilts over the last week or so ...
today I am posting about Kylie's Jelly Roll quilt
I just love the colours that are in this quilt...
this quilt is for her son..
we used a light blue thread with an all over
quilting pattern called
"breath of the gods"
had chosen another pattern that was
a little more busy
I posted a pic about it being loaded
in the machine on my Facebook page ...and she changed her mind on
the pattern...just by skin of her teeth :)
very Lucky lol
below is the back of the quilt
but I am glad of the changes as it turned out just divine :)
even if I do say so myself
and people over on our Facebook page just thought
it was amazing :) and aptly named
here you can see the finished quilt
just a sea of blues :)
so calming

I am on a Roll this week Quilt #24
As I said in my last post I was quilting for Debby S of Nanango Qld
this week...so here we are with her 2nd one for the week
It is a gorgeous 10 min Block Quilt
using Earthy colours
I just love these quilts they get rid of a
fair amount of that ever growing Stash
and this quilt is not exception
oopps a little bit wrinkled... better give it a steam :) |
I love how Debby has dressed up this little quilt
with some whimsical flowers of matching the fabrics...
and an all over quilting design
using Q-Bot of Flowers
as you can see from the pictures
they match this lovely little quilt just
nicely....
I am sure that this gorgeous quilt
will
I can't wait to see what Debby Brings in next
I love her work and it is always a pleasure to quilt them
for her...I think at last count I was quilt 16 for Debby :) :)
