Finally Quilting Again :)

After days or should I say
2 weeks I am finally back
to quilting...

The timing on my Lovely
machine got thrown out by a
broken needle....
not once but twice

so here is what I have been working on
for the last 4 weeks...

King Size Double Wedding Ring Quilt
for Roslyn. J. of
Watle Camp Qld

really only 2 weeks as the other
2 it just sat there till the repair man
could get to me...

here is a close up of the pattern
although the pics don't really do it justice :)

I thank Roslyn who has been very patient with
the hold ups...
but has been very excited to be part of the
process at the same time...
she is looking forward to seeing it
finished as she has been working on this
for some time now for her son and his wife :)

well I better get back to it and get it finished

Reno's Studio/Shop Day 4

Today was a huge day
we picked up the sheeting for the windows
and got that up...

that was the easy part .....
but now we had to move everything into place
and that was not as easy as first thought
First we pulled the large frame
and machine apart

now that hubby has pulled the machine apart
it is time to reassemble it in the new
work area
we now have to level it frame out
so that it dosen't move at all when I stop
the machine when quilting
it took a while but got there in
the end :)
and yes I am getting in trouble for playing
with my phone :) heheheh

so now the machine and frame is in
place....I can not wait till everything
else is in its new home :)
so this is the view from the front
door of the house into the new
room...this is the small machine and
frame :)
this is the view from the front steps
looking toward the house
on the small machine and frame
side of the room :)

this is the view of the the large machine
and frame from the front of the room
so this is the back of the machine and frame :)

this is what you see when you walk up
the front stairs :) some very pretty
fabrics :)
Front view of the the large machine and
frame and you can see the area is
coming together nicely :)

this is the front foyer of the house
as you can see some really nice
backing fabrics

this is also the front foyer of the house
we had a linen press here and we decided
to turn it into a sewing machine
display case :) with some fabric
stored under it :)
this is a bookshelf that we have turned into
a sewing machine display case

the door that you can see in the back ground is
the next room to be done...
that will have fabric shelving and
waddings and sewing table for
all the ladies that love to create

so as you can see it has been a huge day
so now I will call it a day and move onto
the next task...

Street Signs :)

Reno's Shop/Studio Day 3

So we are now on day 3 of the
renovations here at
Darvanalee Designs Quilting Service

as you seen from the last post the flooring is down and
we have put on our 3 coats of Varnish
and as you can see it
looks absolutely fabulous

Now we are about to start moving things back
as it has to dry off a little more
before we can put machines out here...
we are hoping with in 6 hours ....

So six hours have past
and we have started moving

the first of the the frames into place

Aww the machine looks all lonesome
there by itself ;)
Now we have to make a quick trip to
Toowoomba
the large machine broke a needle and
put the timming out again

and while the machine is out of the frame I will
pull it apart and get it set up :)

we are now off to get the perspex
sheeting for the walls we can have
maximum light coming in and the steel
for the security frames :)

Reno's Studio/Shop Day 2

Today is day 2 of the Studio/Shop renovations
we have just got back with the flooring

we decided to go with an inexpensive
option of ply pine ply sheeting
just to give it that industrial look..

and as we only have a limited budget
that fit in with ours

we have the sealer/varnish and
all the applicators too
so we can just keep moving on to the
next part of the job :)

as you can see from the images we are starting to get ready...
we first have to sand the ply to get a nice finish
and to save us some hard work a bit later

Now to start laying down the sheeting
and I am getting in trouble for playing
with my phone LOL

we have now laid a few sheets
of the ply down
as you can see it goes down quick
it is a bit of a shame to cover up the floor
boards but there are gaps and they
need to be sealed to make it dust free

     we are almost done...
we have screwed down all the sheets
of ply and now I am filling in the holes
with some wood putty so you can't see
them :)

Ok so now as you can see we have been going
all day...

we have laid the sheeting and screwed it down
then filled the screw holes with putty
and have hand sanded all the boards
from one end to the other

now on to sealing/varnishing
we used a oil based sealer as we have
going to have people walking on it
when it is raining they walk in their we
shoes...this should offer some extra
protection for the floor :)

the above pic is the floor with its first
coast of sealer/varnish looks awesome
this  is one end of the veranda.... :)

a look at it a little closer :)
I love the look of this
it has made everything so much more brighter
and that is only after 1 coa
now to let it dry for 12 hours before adding the 2nd
coat :) ....
12 hours later
the 2nd coat is going on
we are putting a total of 4 coats
Now onto the next part of the job
my Large street signs are going up :)
and sealing in the window parts of the veranda :)
